A man wielding a long shooting and killed a police officer out of service who worked in security in the center of Manhattan and also injured a civilian, sources told ABC News.
The suspect fled to the building, located in 345 Park Ave., the fountains said. After apparently closed on the 33rd floor, he was found dead for what is believed to be a self -inflicted gunshot wound, the sources added.
The conditions of the victims were not known immediately. The officer was working in the building, the sources said.

The surveillance images captured the suspect outside the building armed with a long weapon, according to Fuentes.
The reason is currently under investigation, said FBI deputy director, Dan Bongino.
There is a blockade in the office building, which contains the headquarters of the Blackstone investment company and the National Football League, the sources said. It is not clear if those companies, or some company in the building, were linked to the shooting.

The New York City Police Department also urged people to avoid the neighborhood of EAST 52nd Street between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue due to police activity.

The staff and agents of the FBI field office in New York responded “to provide support in the active crime scene in Manhattan,” Bongino said in X.
