Wounded officer, suspected dead in shooting on the Atlanta campus of the University of Emory

An agent of the law was injured after an active shooter was reported on the Atlanta campus of the University of Emory on Friday.

The Atlanta Police Department said the suspect is now dead.

The sources told ABC News that the Local Police found a suspect and tried to involve the person when shots were exchanged.

The police realized the strongly armed suspect, which was located on the roof of the CVS of Emory Point, after they shot, sources told ABC News.

A police officer suffered serious injuries in the exchange of shots with the suspect, Fuentes said.

A refuge order was placed in the place and then rose. “Run. Hide. Fight. Avoid the area,” said the university on an alert on Friday afternoon.

The school campus is located near the headquarters of Centers for Nursing Control and Prevention (CDC). It was not clear immediately if the shooting was related to the federal agency.

The governor of Georgia, Brian Kemp, issued a statement about X thanking the first to respond “towards the danger of submitting the shooter and saving lives.”

“We ask him to join us to hold them in our prayers, along with those damaged tonight near the center of the CDC,” Kemp wrote.

FBI Atlanta also responded to the incident.

Georgia’s attorney general Chris Carr, issued a statement on Friday, saying: “We are horrified by the news of the University of Emory and pray for the security of the entire community of the campus.”

The White House is monitoring the situation, an official told ABC News.
