OSCARS 2025: Live updates of the largest night in Hollywood

The presenter of the Oscar Conan O’Brien began the 97th Oscar with a monologue who touched the films and actors nominated for this year.

“‘A complete stranger’. ‘A real pain.’ ‘Nosferatu’. These are just some of the names that called me on the red carpet,” he joked.

From the candidate “Wicked”, O’Brien mocked the fun saying: “It is the perfect film for anyone who has finished watching ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and thought: ‘Of course, but where were all the smaller characters to the university? That is the story'”.

Touching the Oscar nominee Karla Sofía Gascón’s Social Media ControversyO’Brien joked: “I loved ‘Anora’. I really did.

Then he told the actress of “Emilia Pérez”, who was criticized in recent weeks for offensive publications on social networks. “Karla, if you are going to tweet on the Oscars, remember, my name is Jimmy Kimmel.”

Adam Sandler made a surprise cameo, joking with O’Brien about his wardrobe chosen for the Oscar: gym shorts and a hoodie.

O’Brien became more serious with a message about what Oscars really represent in their nucleus.

“Now, for almost a century, we have stopped every spring to raise and celebrate an art form that has the power, at its best, to unite,” he said. “Then, yes, even in front of terrible forest fires and a divisive policy, the work, which is, the work continues.”

“And next year, and during the coming years, through trauma and joy, this apparently absurd ritual will be here,” he continued. “I will not, I leave Hollywood to run a bed and breakfast in Orlando, and I would like to see you there. But the magic, the madness, the greatness and the joy of the film around the world will be with us forever.”

Before his monologue, O’Brien began the show with a parody of “the substance.”
