A small earthquake shook some parts of the New York City area on Saturday night, according to the United States Geological Service.
The epicenter of the Magnitude 3.0 earthquake was northeast of Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey, in Bergen County, about 10 kilometers below the surface, said the USGS.
Although the earthquake was relatively lower, there were reports of short tremors in parts of the area.

There were no immediate reports of any damage, ABC New York Wabc station reported.
In a statement published on social networks, the emergency management of New York City said that tremors may have felt in parts of New York City, but that there were no reports of injuries or damage to the city.
Xan Davidson, a USGS analyst, told ABC News that while earthquakes are relatively rare on the east coast, a magnitude 3.0 is not considered a significant earthquake.
“We wouldn’t expect much damage,” said Davidson. “I would simply be trembling.”
In April 2024, New York City and New Jersey were shaken by a rare earthquake of Magnitude of 4.8, which the authorities said it was one of the largest earthquakes on the east coast in the last century.
That earthquake focused near Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, and shook buildings from Philadelphia to New Jersey and New York City to Connecticut and Westchester, New York.
“The earthquakes happen here, but it is not something that happens frequently,” said Davidson, referring to the 2024 earthquake.
Davidson said that the broad area of people who reported feeling the earthquake on Saturday, reaching Connecticut, is not unexpected and that there was little cause of alarm.
