London – Ukraine is “preparing for negotiations” with the USA. With respect to security guarantees and “crucial”, said President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and the Ukrainian leader is expected to travel to Washington, DC, meet the President Donald Trump and firm a mineral agreement.
Kyiv is maneuvering to win a United States security agreement as part of the proposed mineral agreement, a “preliminary framework” in which Ukraine has been working, Zelenskyy told journalists in kyiv on Wednesday.
But Trump said he would not offer any security guarantee to Ukraine “beyond much”, as part of any agreement. “We are going to make Europe do that,” he told the White House journalists on Wednesday.
In a video statement published on the presidential website on Wednesday night, Zelenskyy said his team is “working to ensure that Ukrainian positions are protected under any circumstance.”

“And this is one of the key conditions for the diplomacy we need, for adequate diplomacy that will guarantee peace for Ukraine,” he added.
The president said that “there was a lot of international work” on Wednesday. “Our teams are working with the United States, we are preparing for negotiations as soon as this Friday. The agreement with the United States. Support for our State and people.”
“Peace and security guarantees: this is the key to ensuring that Russia no longer destroys the lives of other nations,” Zelenskyy said. “I will meet with President Trump. For me and for all of us in the world, it is crucial that the assistance of the United States does not stop. Force is essential on the road to peace.”
Trump said Wednesday that he hopes to sign the mineral agreement with Zelenskyy in the White House on Friday, adding that his administration is “happy” with the agreement. Trump has framed the agreement as a means to recover US war help to Ukraine.
The countries agreed an agreement related to critical minerals and other resources, a senior Ukrainian official said on Tuesday.
The details of the agreement seem to suggest that kyiv has managed to significantly improve the terms, perhaps to look at some of the most expensive demands of the Trump administration.
The $ 500 billion required by Trump no longer characteristics in the agreement, and the fund in which Ukraine will pay will no longer be 100% owned by the United States, according to the full text of the agreement obtained by ABC News.
Ukraine agreed to contribute 50% of all the income of its natural resources to a Joint Property Fund of Ukraine and the United States, according to the agreement.
Natural resources assets include those directly or indirectly owned by the Ukrainian government and are defined as “mineral, hydrocarbons, oil, natural gas and other removable materials, and other relevant infrastructure for natural resources assets (such as liquefied natural gas terminals and port infrastructure)”.
However, Zelenskyy warned that any agreement will not be viable without the support of the security of the United States.
“Without future safety guarantees, we will not be high,” said Zelenskyy. “And if we don’t have it, nothing will work. Nothing will work.”
