Trump says that Texas Republicans have the right to more seats as the redistribution of districts continues

The Texas House of Representatives is scheduled to meet again on Tuesday afternoon, although it is not clear if the body can do so, since several democratic members have fled the State on a redistribution plan for Republican districts.

Governor Greg Abbott, a Republican, ordered Tuesday to the Texas Public Security Department to find and arrest the Democrats who fled the State, an order that Abbott said it will remain in force until they “count and bring back” to Austin.

Texas’s house is scheduled to be in session at 1 PM CT, according to the official website.

Many Texas Democrats left the State on Sunday in protest of an effort led by Republicans, backed by President Donald Trump, to create a new map of Congress that could create up to five new Republican seats and help the party maintain control of the use of the Usehouse in the medium -term elections of 2026.

They received the support of the Blue state governors on Monday, including Kathy Hochul from New York and Gavin Newsom in California. Both Hochul and Newsom said they would strive the redistribution of partisan districts in their own states in response to Texas.

On Tuesday morning, the president of the National Democratic Committee, Ken Martin, will join Texas House Democrats and Illinois Gov JB Pritzker for a press conference.

President Trump also intervened on Tuesday morning in the middle of augmented tensions in a telephone interview in CNBC, arguing that Republicans have “right” to more seats in Congress.

“We have the opportunity in Texas to collect five seats. We have a very good governor, and we have good people in Texas. And I won Texas. I got the highest vote in the history of Texas, as you probably know, and we are entitled to five more seats,” Trump said.

At the same time, he criticized the Democratic governors who are working on the plans to potentially draw new Maps of Congress in their favor and used it as an argument for efforts in Texas to continue.

“That’s all Gerrymander. California is Gerrymanded. We should have many more seats in Congress. In California, everything is Gerrymanded,” said the president.
